For the casual visitor, the main feature of Nether Row seems to be an area of open ground where several tracks join to meet the road from Caldbeck. This area was once a connected by a 1.1km (0.7 mile) aerial ropeway to East Potts Gill Mine and was used for the transhipment of mineral for onward transport by road. The right hand track is the High level Alternative Route of The Cumbria Way from Skiddaw House; the High Level and Low Level alternative routes reunite here. Northbound walkers following The Cumbria Way turn left here to follow the road (next photograph Image).
