The buildings at right are The Old Forge, Blacksmith Cottage and the Old Smithy (now ruined). Matlaske is situated at the southeastern edge of Barningham Hall and Park, and many villagers would have worked for the estate at some time in the past. A number of fine old brick and flint cottages line The Street, the main thoroughfare through the village.
