With Northern train about to leave for the Hope Valley and Manchester Piccadilly. In 1985 the previous track together with double faced platforms Nos 2 and 3 were removed. Platform 4 had previously been removed a decade earlier. For over 150 years the remaining platform to the right had been Platform 1, the one users first come to at the entrance. It has been causing confusion, however almost twice as many users go towards the Hope Valley and Manchester as into Sheffield. The services are tailored towards Manchester bound commuters rather than those into Sheffield city centre.
