Hudswell Steps

Not a route for the faint hearted. Hudswell parish path number 18 begins down by the River Swale and ascends the very steep hillside towards the village. There's 287 steps on this path, but that's not quite the total as path 18 becomes path 23, where there's another 33 steps, making 320 in total. The steps have been rebuilt over a period in recent years with volunteer teams, such as the Ragged Robins and from the YDNP under the supervision of National Park rangers.
