East Street was always a place where there were lots of pubs in the past - many frequented by the colliers of the Victorian era. As times and tastes changed over the years, Bedminster has seen several of them change hands frequently and often close for good. This one was known as The Assembly of late, before changing landlords and title. Even the move the 'Cheekies' did not save it and so the old pub is now back on the market; opinions differ as to whether it will be converted into housing.
