When I walked to primary school in the 1940s, I passed these cottages every day. I saw them as an anachronism. As London sprawled further into the countryside modern communities grew up alongside the existing houses. This and the Old School next door have continued as homes since I first was aware of them in 1946. They have hardly changed since. Careful look at Image] shows that the roadside wall and gate had been renewed and a drainpipe added by 2006.
