The grille is a local product, and lies in the gutter only a few streets away from the foundry where it was made. A foundry was established in 1840 in Richmond Street by H. Pond; William Hillman took it over in 1850 and it may have been known as Coleman's foundry by its closure in the 1960s. During that time, several iron products have found a role in Weston like this one. Hillman was buried in Milton Road cemetery.
