On first acquaintance, there is no doubt this is a very old church - and not surprisingly given a Grade I Listed Building status. Part of the lower tower dates back to Anglo Saxon times. Additions were made in 1200 and extended in the 13th Century. Work continued through the ages, culminating in large restorations in the 1870's.
