Opened in 1858 by the Great Western Railway on what became a junction of lines from Merthyr, Aberdare, Newport and Abergavenny, this station closed in 1964 and was eventually demolished. View east towards Treharris, Newport and Abergavenny. The houses sit on the course of the railway, with the station here having 2 parallel platforms. The grey barriers centre left give access to a short path leading to the station's entrance/exit steps which were still extant when this image was taken. Far right is the entrance to the almost adjacent Quakers Yard (Low Level) station, which is still open. When still open, the back of the signal box would have been far left on this image.
