The plinth has memorial inscriptions for members of the on three sides of the plinth. The oldest is to Marion Barden, who died in 1912 aged 49. Her husband Alfred lived until 1935 when he was 78. Two sons Alfred Vernon and Cecil Eli died in 1925 and 1935 respectively and Pilot Officer Alfred Vernon Cecil Barden was killed in action in 1943, aged only 18. Lastly Jaqueline Barden Fitches died in 2002 aged 93.
