Showing the junction with Union Street. Most of Week Street has been pedestrianised for many years but one used to able to drive as far as here and up Union Street - this is no longer possible as Union Street has a barrier at the bottom. Week Street was also the main shopping area before the Chequers (formerly Stoneborough) Centre was built in King Street. With the opening of Fremlin Walk http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/77427 on the old brewery site many of the major chains have vacated their Week Street premises in favour of new ones.
