This shows the southern end of Corporation Street where it meets Church Street. The art deco building ahead now houses a bar/restaurant called the Lighthouse which was refurbished in 2020; it had previously been called the Silk Kite. Older residents will remember it as the home of the Electricity Board and the wartime air raid siren for the town was once located here. Happily the clock is showing the correct time. On the right, the 'Crafty Two' is the current name for a pub that has previously been known as the Tavern in the Town and the Municipal Hotel. The crafty two in question were a pair of Tamworth pigs that famously escaped in Malmesbury, Wiltshire in 1998 spending several days on the run and attracting a great deal of media attention.
