This was part of the main GWR railway line between Paddington, Birmingham Snow Hill, Wolverhampton Low Level and Shrewsbury. From Shrewsbury the line continued north towards Chester & Birkenhead, and west to Aberystwyth and other places I can't spell let alone pronounce.
