Opened in 1940 as a cinema containing seating for nearly 1000 people. The cinema closed in 1965 and was converted into a bingo hall which continued until the early 1980s. After that the building remained largely vacant though the front was used for retail. In 2019 the old auditorium was demolished and converted into flats, however, the frontage was retained and has also been converted into three retail units.
