A second bridge across the Medway was built in the 1970s to ease traffic congestion, this new bridge forms part of a huge roundabout across the river with all but this junction controlled by traffic lights. The queueing vehicles are in St Peter's Street, the new red brick building down river on the right is Fremlin Walk shopping centre. The empty lot on the left is soon to be developed.
