- Chain Home Low Station DoB ID: e25358 Overlooking Swansea Bay alongside the Wales Coast Path at Margam, are the remains of a CD/CHL radar station, a relic of the Second World War. The building housed the transmitting and receiving equipment, as well as the turning gear for the rotating aerial array. A separate building to the south contained generators supplying mains electrical power to the site. The block was one of a large number of wartime Coastal Defence/Chain Home Low stations for the direction of coastal artillery, and the detection of approaching ships and aircraft. At one time the responsibility of the Army, the stations reverted to the RAF in their entirety later in the war. This block is fairly unique in that the gantry that supported the rotating antennae remains in situ.
