Little Road, whilst not being anything special, is certainly too big for its name: it is as wide as most suburban city streets, has 59 addresses, and according to one website is 505 metres long. So perhaps a Mr or (more unlikely, considering building looks to have started at the street's Western end in the early 1930s from Ordnance Survey maps) Ms Little was being honoured, though no information has cropped up online in the usual places. It has a handful of eye-catching extensions, two of which can be seen on the right. It is fair to say that the nearest one is certainly not in keeping with the buildings original character. Which to me is a good thing. Edinburgh Council is overly precious about how its buildings look; thankfully this road doesn't fall into one of the city's 50 [fifty] conservation areas. It is one thing to keep your fancy areas looking fancy, but way over the top to force a huge proportion of your residents to employ pricey niche tradesman who specialise in doing things the way they were done 200 years ago in order to make alterations or additions to their properties. It's always more interesting if an area, to a certain extent, reflects all the ages in which it has existed. (I don't live in Edinburgh, incidentally - it is just a common grumble from people there, and there are tales of people who have lost their homes on account of being unable to afford prescribed remedial works.)
