The inscription reads:- THESE GATES WERE ER- ECTED BY ADAM YOUNG, ESKBANK, AS A MEMORIAL OF HIS FOREFATHERS WHO WERE CONNECTED WITH NISBET FOR OVER 200 YEARS AND WERE BURIED IN THIS CHURCHYARD. MAY 1919.
