The St Austell granite massif rises steeply to the north of the town giving some fine views to the south. This view was taken from the road around the southeast side of Carclaze Downs and looks out over the eastern side of St Austell Bay to Gribbin Head. You may just be able to make out some vertical smudges on the photograph caused by the fact that it was taken in a torrential rain (and hail) storm.
