Old milestone

One of the five remaining West Riding County Council milestones on the route from Knaresborough to Green Hammerton. 615 if this style were set up in 1893/94 all over the old West Riding. The previous photograph, 6069096, was actually taken in 2014 after the metal attachment had been painted by two Milestone Society members. in 2024 vegetation had to be cleared so that this milestone near the A57 cross roads could be seen clearly at the back of a shallow ditch just east of Station Road. There is a benchmark on the left hand side. Grade II listed1189740.
