The Number 1 factory was built in Bedminster as the company outgrew the old Redcliffe site in the late nineteenth century. Sir Frank Wills himself designed the new place, which has the logo of 'ITC' - Imperial Tobacco Company. The factory was opened in 1886, covering some 0.7 ha (1.75 acres) of an old tannery site.
