Messines

Messines is named after a battle in France in 1914. The cottage is one of two cottages Image for war veterans, designed by J and W Wittet and built 1919-20, funded by Sir Archibald Williams (the local MP). They are located at the foot of Lady Hill. The cottages are Category C listed https://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB30776. Note the weathervane.
