Metal plate attached to stone post by the A352, in parish of WINFRITH NEWBURGH (PURBECK District), opposite Red Lion Pub and turning to Winfrith Newburgh; 2m back from road against hedge, on North side of road. Dorset 3 and 4 (iron plated), erected by the Dorchester & Wool turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : 9 / DORCHESTER / WAREHAM / 8 : Carved benchmark on bottom centre of front face. Milestone Society National ID: DO_DOWA09.
