At the junction of Ferriby Road and Heads Lane, gateway and length of wall formerly at the entrance to Tranby Lodge, a Victorian mansion which was demolished in the mid-1980s. A local group has been formed to preserve the gates and the small area of land behind them, as 'Tranby Gate Woodland & Wildlife Haven'. Tranby Lodge Gateway was previously owned by Persimmon Homes who sold it to East Riding Council for a nominal fee in 2001. The 0.7 hectare site is now part of a wider conservation area. A new housing estate was built on part of the site. The legal covenant on the remaining land states that it must be preserved as an open space and that trees and shrubbery should not be removed.
