Spon Lane top lock

This is the top lock on the Birmingham Canal Navigations (Spon Lane locks branch) and is only just off the old main line to the right under the M5's Oldbury Viaduct. These three locks descend to the new main line. There used to be six locks before the summit was lowered and one of the very early Boulton and Watt steam pumping engines back pumped the water at Spon Lane.
