The blue plaque on the brick building on the left describes it as a single cell prison, which ceased its function in 1843, when Dunmow Police Station opened. It was later used for other purposes, most recently as a coblers shop belonging to Barrie Ashard, whose sisters donated the building to the town on his death in 2006 https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/21303646.town-get-jailhouse-back/ . It is Listed Grade II, early 19th century https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1076981?section=official-list-entry . On the right, numbers 13 and 15 North Street are Listed Grade II plastered timber frame; also early 19th century https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1142465?section=official-list-entry
