Metal plate formerly attached to a stone post by the B6265, in parish of WHIXLEY (HARROGATE District), opposite Moor Farm, on grass verge beside hedge, on east side of road, approximate GR: SE 4456 5984. Boroughbridge plate, erected by the York & Boroughbridge turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : BOROUGH / BRIDGE / 5 MILES : The plate was found near its original location circa 1970 after the stone had been destroyed. More recently donated to Boroughbridge Town Council who have displayed it, along with other signs, in an open building on the East side of Hall Square, off Fishergate, Boroughbridge.
