A weatherboarded post mill on a roundhouse. Thought to date from 1762 but relocated to this site in 1987 because of the expansion of Gatwick Airport. Has been very extensively rebuilt. Has two patent sails and two common sails, winding by tailpole and two sets of stones. Listed Grade II. This shows one set of stones in the buck that is driven from the wooden brake wheel of clasp arm construction. The windshaft is metal with the striking rod passing through to actuate the patent sails.
