The Beccles Area School was opened on April 1st 1939, and was considered "the last word in up-to-date equipment and facilities". Under the Headmastership of Mr George Odam formerly of Grundisburgh School near Woodbridge. By the opening of this school, the National Schools in Ravensmere were closed. The school has been reinvented and is now privately run, under the name of the Seckford educational Trust or "SET Beccles" school
