This once magnificent tree at the centre of Sheet Village was planted in 1899 has been having some health problems for many years and has been kept under close observation by the council Arboreal Surveyors. Sadly gale Antoni on 5th/6th August this year created a vertical split in the trunk and the advice from the professionals was to perform substantial canopy reduction, which happened over the last week.
