Cam Causeway (the road forking off to the left) has very wide verges, and the junction here an unusual layout. When this area was built up, there were plans to put the ring road through here, with a new bridge over the Cam - hence the road's name - to link to the Newmarket Road/Barnwell Road roundabout in TL4759.
