At this point the alley has been brick paved and is skirting the eastern end of the Blyburgate car park on the right and past Roys supermarket on the left. Shipwreck Alley is one of the hidden gems of Beccles, the name of which over the years and is generally just another pathway, leading from Fair Close where the Beccles fairs were held many years ago, past where the Beccles Men's Institute and Reading Room once stood, through what is now the Blyburgate car park, past Roys supermarket and out on to Grove Road. No-one is sure when or where the name originated, but it remains, for the moment anyway, unrecognised.
