The chapel here dates from 1882 with a schoolroom added in 1896. At the time it was built for the primitive Methodists, the Wesleyans having a separate building (now demolished). The telephone box along the street is still in use, although it owes its survival to an intervention by the parish council when BT tried to remove it.
