Former police station in Beccles

Before the police station was built in London Road in 1932 https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7591700 this was the Beccles police station. Previously a police station was incorporated in the Gaol in Newgate, which stood about 70 yards north-east of here. The Gaol itself was built in 1802/03 and demolished in 1937. However in 1839 a police station separate from the gaol was required, so the Feoffment Chamber in Smallgate, was demolished and a new Police Station, and Council Chamber built on the site, which is the building seen here today. Although it is a ballet school at this time.
