The track beside it leads to Alderford. The village of Swannington is located roughly seven miles southwest of Aylsham, and about eight miles northwest of Norwich. The village consists of around 50 homes, a 13th century church and a children’s play area. The nearby (now disused) Swannington Airfield was built in 1943 and was home to the 100 Group. Long since returned to agricultural use, evidence of runways and some perimeter track can still be seen.
