Winton's newest pub, a Wetherspoon's house, will open on Monday 21 April, 2008. The site's previous use was as a homeware store. It is on the corner of Wimborne and Latimer Roads and the rest of the building comprises Latimer Court, recent dwelling conversions. The somewhat surprising name — Parkstone and Heatherlands being adjacent suburbs of Poole, 3 or 4 miles from here — stems from the fact that the Parkstone & Heatherlands Co-Operative Society opened a grocery store here on 12 July 1912. However, the Winton Forum website (here: http://www.wintonforum.co.uk/shoppingpast.html ) suggests that this is something of a misnomer, as it shows a photograph of the "Parkstone & Bournemouth" Co-op.
