This miniature metal milepost fashioned after the much larger West Riding CC milestones is set in a small recess on the A614 at Wyke. It is near No.680 Huddersfield Road and opposite Hansen Mount. It is 55cm high. Left face -LOW MOOR/½MILE. Right face - BRIGHOUSE/3 MILES. Bevel - WYKE. Top - WIBSEY & HUDDERSFIELD/1823/TURNPIKE. Wibsey Low Moor (Bradford) & Huddersfield turnpike, first enacted in 1823 was 8.1 miles long. It had 6 main gates and 1 side gate.
