This 'portrait statue' is one of three close to the south end of the Adur Ferry Bridge. They each depict individuals who have been of importance to the town of Shoreham. This one is of Peter Huxtable MBE, a volunteer with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) for 43 years, who served as coxswain of the Shoreham lifeboat between 1991 and 2011. It is reckoned that he saved 449 lives at sea.
