Just about to pass under St John's Road bridge is the 3.30pm from Ryde Esplanade headed by W31 'Chale'. (Attached at the rear is W33 'Bembridge'). The piled-up empty wicker baskets (laundry baskets perhaps) are a reminder of the varied traffic that once was carried in the luggage vans or compartments of ordinary passenger trains, and which required station porters employed to man-handle on and off trains.
