Another public house, The Nelson stands next to Evans the fish shop on Barlow Moor Road. It advertises BT Sport and Sky Sport. Next to the pub is a specialised butchers, Axons, "Purveyors of fine quality meats". Purveyors is an old fashioned word. The fish shop and the butchers both have tiled fronts around the windows. It is a traditional style, perhaps indicating cleanliness.
