Ordnance Survey documents describe a 1GL bolt benchmark which was levelled on a Mint Bridge at 168.825 feet above Liverpool Datum during the 1841-1844 Liverpool to Port Carlisle Survey. The surveyor's description was 'No. 289. Bolt in West face and South pier of Mint Bridge ; 4.08 ft. above surface'. The bridge was replaced in the 1920s with the road straightened.
