This charming building, with its multitude of window styles, dates from 1704, the Old Gaol Yard now forming a car park. The present day building incorporates several businesses and has no frontage, being built on to from Bridge Street. Apparently prisoners were incarcerated here and taken across the river to the old Courthouse Image to be afforded justice. Morpeth County Gaol, as it was known, closed in 1828.
