This TO and FROM stone is on Lidget Street near the base of Lindley Clock Tower at the crossroads. Now a minor route from the city centre it marks the 2 mile point for a Hansom Cab Fare-stage. These stones on many routes, starting at 1 mile, then every ½ mile were set by the Town Watch Committee in the late 19C. The Milestone Society has recorded 28 of this type of stone since 2001 although 3 have been lost since then. Left face - TO/HUDDERSFIELD/2/MILES. Right face - FROM/HUDDERSFIELD/2/MILES.
