Fairfield Hall, for some time known as The Old Hall, is glimpsed behind the ugly and unsympathetic extension in blockwork. The hall was possibly built in the 14th or 15th century, with 17th century and later alterations. Timber framed with rendered infill under a Welsh slate roof. Inside are three pairs of cruck blades and many other original features. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1082055 Adforton is a small village in Herefordshire, near the border with Wales. It lies astride the A4110 road some 7 miles east of Knighton and about 7½ miles southwest of Ludlow. The name means 'settlement connected with Ealdfrith'. Adforton was originally an agricultural village but most working residents now commute.
