1 Gordon Terrace was once student accommodation for climbers. The University of Edinburgh sold it off in the 1990s and the name Graham Brown House passed to a flat near Surgeon's Hall. In its day it suffered rooftop parties and hoses played on the wall during a cold spell to form an icefall and no doubt other indignities from other generations.
