The path enters a lovely open landscape. A notice says 'please keep to the footpath' but this is difficult as it is not visible. I headed for the two trees a little left of centre. Eventually you will reach a locked gate, which you have to climb over. Then follow a line of trees, which is along the edge of what was Stead Wood. These will lead you to the edge of the motorway, where the path stops and you have to turn round and retrace.
