This signal box adjacent to an AFB (automatic full barrier) level crossing on Charlton Lane is still staffed at busy times, but remotely controlled (presumably from the London Bridge control centre) at less busy times. Waiting times can be quite long as the practice is to close the barriers before trains leave Charlton station (800m west) or Woolwich Dockyard (1100m east) although there are intermediate signals.
