18th Century house, with the façade dating from 1755, built for John Children, one of a notable local family. It is now part of Tonbridge School. Grade II listed - see https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1363399?section=official-list-entry. The blue plaques on the front read: "Colin Cowdrey Kent & England Cricketer 1932-2000 lived here" and "John George Children 1777-1852 Scientist Anna Atkins 1799-1871 his daughter Botanist & Photographer lived here".
