19th Century housing in Lavender Hill. The semi-detached pair on the left, nos 85 & 87, have a name plaque "Magenta Cottages" and are marked and named as such on the 1867 1:500 plan. The remainder are first marked on the 1896 25 inch map. No 81 has a name plaque "Melbourne Villa".
