Lynette Roberts lived in the village for several years during World War Two, much of the time alone while her husband Keidrych Rhys was working in London. She recorded in her diaries detailed observations of her daily life, the villagers, the birds and plants around her, and these are published in Diaries, Letters and Recollections (Carcanet Press 2008)
